Microsoft launches 'terrorist-fuelling' piracy crackdown in United Kingdom

'Keep IT Real' campaign will target small resellers and online auctions

Microsoft has launched a new software piracy crackdown in the UK which will target computer shops, resellers and online auctions selling counterfeit copies of its products.

Speaking at the launch of the 'Keep IT Real' campaign, Alistair Baker, head of Microsoft UK, said the focus would be on cracking down on small resellers and system builders who are undercutting genuine channel partners by selling pirated Microsoft software.

He said: "We are going to try and cut the problem off at source. We believe over two-thirds of PCs shipped in the small system builder market are without genuine copies of Microsoft software."

Of course M$ knows exactly who to go after and hang. They used sticks & carrots in the amnesty program as bait to collect information. Thread flashback...

I don't think M$ is fooling anybody with their Tom and Jerry approach to piracy, they are not unaware of how to fix the piracy problem once and for all, unfortunately everyone knows the how bad the monopoly fever has gripped 'em.

Truth is, they'll rather have people pirate their software than use a cheaper competitor's.

Good thinking. As a matter of fact M$$ is rebuking EU and foot-dragging the U.S, DOJ yet no one can stop them.

And now that they have introduced M$$ Office 2007, they are asking for USD$399 for Office Standard, and Office Professional for USD$499

In any case the Office 2007 cost a lot more than Windows XP itself.

Isn't that the truth. I use XP and OSX XP more), and if more people just TRIED OSX... M$ would have to come out with another service pack, lol.

I'm not a XP basher, and OSX has it's quirks, but the Unix based OSX is soooo much cooler. No Fisher Price feel. It's very streamlined, and all business. The business I'm in anyway (graphic design).

When I can finally run it on my desktop, it'll be awesome (it's coming).
