TI-82 calc

i have a TI-82 and a custom (HOME made) serial port cable. i cant seem to get the TI software to link in, and i was told windows cant directly connect or something to ports, so im wondering how i can a.) disable the damned windows protection, or b.) get around it. (sorry bout that.)

actually ment I/O ports, since i was talking about a serial cable :p
