Thunderbird backup restore profile

My HD crashed, bad sectors on it, so got a replacement drive. I wanna get the emails and addresses from thunderbird off it. I can access some of the HD. I copied over the xxxxx.default folder for my profile for thunderbird. Copied the contents inside of it into the new HD's xxxxx.default folder. But i wont show me any folders, mail, adresses. What can i do ?
