I am trying to get XP startup disks for my Toshiba. The "6 startup floppies" download is available from Microsoft. Question is, can I burn them to CD instead of floppies?

Thanks,

Jon

M$ state the Boot Diskette Set are offered for customers unable to boot from CD. So NO it is not really a feasible proposition.

Hi,

I didn't download them yet. I am trying to get my startup in XP problem resolved and am searchign for ways to do so. I heard about the 6 startup floppies, but only have a CD drive on my laptop...So am trying to come up with a solution to not having a startup disk. Any suggestions?

Jon

OK, I'll ask. Why would you get floppies to copy to a CD? The floppies contain some or all of what is on the MS CD anyway.

Other ideas are some things like ultimate boot disk or even barts pe to get to a system if you don't have luck and the tricks to use the recovery console from CD or if you installed the recovery to the hard drive.

Are you having problems starting up a system that already has XP installed or are you trying to install XP and can't get it to boot to the cd drive?

There is a notation on the MS document relating to this topic that these startup disks are being phased out. Looking at your computer I guess it would not be hard to guess why. As stated above get BartPE to reslove your boot problem.
