Hello to all at the best forum around.
The dreaded “The system has recovered from a serious error” has struck me again.
At the time it happened I was copying a Pink Flyod CD to the hard drive using the copy from CD function in media player 8.00.00.4487. All was going fine until the 3rd or 4th song when it crashed, this happened 3 times in a row with 3 different CD’s each time it happened I was online.
I went to the run box and typed in SFC /scannow with the XP cd in and the files checked out OK, I then went to the event viewer >system and found,ERROR. acpi

The thought of an overheating problem came to mind (having read just about all the posts on Computing.net) because the computer had been on for a week, so I turned it off for the day and then tried to copy a CD to the hard drive, again it crashed. Like before a couple of songs into the album.
Having not installed anything for at least 2 weeks the thought of driver conflict had gone out the window.
This afternoon (Sunday in Australia) I copied 11 CD’s straight onto the hard drive without a fuss.
Tonight I went on line to do a bit of surfing and decided to copy another CD, you guessed it the bloody thing crashed again.
The common thread between all crashes is that I was online when they happened; when the CD’s did copy I was off line.
I am asking for HELP for this problem but I do not know what help I need to stop it from crashing, maybe I should only copy CD’s when I am offline but that defeats the purpose of having a computer in this modern age.
Golf sounds like a better option at the moment.
I say thank you those who have read this far for any assistance they could offer.
