cold613, I had this same problem a couple months back and like you I also reformatted.Come to find out I believe it to be a problem with windows that has not be resolved yet. I found that when I access a folder(directory)with a short cut of another directory on a different partition(in my case I had 2 desktop short cuts of directory folders which each had 2 shortcuts of directories in different partitions) that explorer would skyrocket to 99% cpu usage and after a few seconds windows would stop the explorer.exe process then restart it automatically.Be aware of what you are accessing at the time of the error(s) and look for similarities. I highly doubt you will need to reformat again as this is obviously an os bug. Also make sure you download all the critical updates and have them installed. I remember reading about another windows os that had a similar problem but i cant remember which one. Here is a link which deals with the same type of issue but I believe it not to be the cause of your specific problem although its worth a read: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329692 Good luck and let us know how it comes along.
