the geforce install problem

after swapping out my geforce card to install xp, when i try to to put my geforce card back in the computer will not even boot. the strange thing is i recive no beeps form the POST or error msgs.
The really wierd thing is that if i put the old card back in everything works again.
i have tried updating the bios and this makes no difference.
