I've just formatted my PC this afternoon using Windows XP Pro. I have three partitions C, D, and E..I have only formatted Drive C and Drive E..But when I open Drive D: it says, The disk in Drive D: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now? WHAT SHOULD I DO? I have many important files on drive D:..I don't want to format it...help pls...tnx

Did you do any partition deleting and/or re-bootin gsuring this process. Becasue if you did what was drive D: could now well be Drive C: and was is now Drive D: could have been redesignated as drive E: or D:
Windows drive letter allocation can be unpredictable at times when you start changing things, especially when it involves drive C:

yes..i deleted the partition in Drive C and Drive E. So what should i do? Should i need a recovery software in order to recover my files at D or is there another simple way to retrieve my files in Drive D?

Have you looked at the other drives to see if the data is there.
What did you use to delete the partitions? If you used a third party utilty the allocated drive letters in a different way you may have deleted drive D: when you thought you were deleting something else.
If that is the case then you wlll need recovery software and something that will recover deleted partitions. In the mean time do not do anything with the hard disk untill you have run the recovery software.

You can have a look at some of these and see if they can do the job. I cannot reccomend any as I have not used any partition recovery software for ages.
