With some of my contacts, if they Reply to an email I've sent them, the text doesn't display - there's just a blank space. If I then click on Reply or Forward, the text of their Reply becomes visible. Is it them or me ?
In the reply there may be an instruction (usually in blue) saying "Display Text". Gmail uses this principle. If the same email is replied to a number of times it serves to save space by not displaying all the replies. You can however display the reply by clicking the blue text.
Ewen I appreciate your comment. I can check only on a case by case basis! But while I'm sure what you say is true, it's not 'it' on the most recent instance - the one that finally prompted me to post. There's nothing to be seen at all as the reply first presents in Outlook Express - except for the (exact) space that the reply would take up if the text were visible. Checking that has reminded me of something else: if I click and drag in that space, that also brings up the text. Is that a clue ? But I should make clear that none of this applies in the vast majority of email replies I receive - usually the text is displayed from the first. Ian
