Text color of desktop icons

Does anyone know how to change the color of the text of the desktop icons in Windows XP? I have gone to appearance/advanced (how I always did it in Windows ME) but nothing changes the color of the desktop icon text - the text is white and I have not found any way to change that. Any help would be appreciated!

I struggled with that as well, and never found a way to do it. However, you can go back to "classic" form on the icons and get the white on a dark blue background that is readable. It doesn't look great with the rest of the XP look, but you can get used to it (if you're tired of the eyestrain).
I'm keeping an eye on the replies you get to see if there's a reasonable alternative (*smile*).

I can't figure it out either. Also waiting for an answer. I had also customized some folders with backgrounds and colored text. The text colors changed when I upgraded from Win98 to XP and now I can't read them as the colors are no longer compatible with the background.
