This has always nagged at me. Why is it when you delete Temporary Internet Files using the Internet Explorer Internet Tools option, all the Temporary Internet files are not deleted? When I look in the folder, I still see files present. Shouldn't ALL of them be deleted? There are a series of IE sub-folders (named using a combination of random letters and numbers) as well that contain hundreds of web-related files. At times these remain also. I usually have to go and manually deleted all the folders and ignore the Windows warning that says deleting the folder may cause Windows to not operate properly.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Perhaps it deletes files that are say older then a day or some other number of days.

After you do the delete check the dates of the files that are left. Maybe you will see a pattern. Or maybe there is another criteria for leaving files.

btw... I use Window Washer to do my disk cleaning and WW does delete all temp Internet files. Other 3rd party cleaners probably do the same thing.

jamesd3rd, When you go into Internet Options>General tab, click the Delete Files button and then checkmark the "delete all off line content" box and click OK. That should clean them out.

There is also a great program called: "ccleaner." It stands for "crap cleaner." You can get it at majorgeeks.com. Type it into the search on the left and it will get it for you. It deletes all files and checks for issues. I love it.

Not sure if this will help James but I go to start, my computer, right click on c drive ,then click properties. Click on disk cleanup. Temp internet files are listed there, along with other files. Let it search, then click ok. Seems to work, havent been able to find any in search after I do that.
