I’m curious why in the first few months of my new notebook, I accumulated very few temp internet files in a session. I’d have maybe 30-40 at the end of a day. In the last week or two, that count has gone back to what my old notebook did: that is, accumulate maybe 400-600 in a day’s work, and many of them are much longer and more compli-cated. Does anyone have an idea why that should be? Thanks.

Without leaning over your shoulder while you work it is difficult to tell. Do you use any "Internet accelerator" programs? They supposedly speed up your surfing but do so by caching linked pages while you are reading. For that reason I never use them.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Good God no. To the accelerator,i.e. I know it's a difficult question to answer, and it probably has something to do with a new program I installed. Since the machine is relatively new, I'm installing more than the usual complement of programs at the moment. Oh well, it's not a major issue.
I tried to ignore your signature, but I was just too used to seeing it there. In case you've forgotten your old one, here it is :) :
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach him to fish and his wife will never forgive you.

Are you using Internet explorer?
If not.. Thats why.. If so, then you may have IE set to delete the Temp files on exit.
Junk Internet Explorer,
Get Firefox! You'll be happy you did.

Not sure I understand you. I've always used IE. Why would my not using it cause this to occur?
I also don't have it set to delete TIFs on exit. Temp files, yes. TIFs, no. But the fact that they're not deleting on exit is not what's causing the accumulation in a single session.
Anyway, as I said, not a major issue.
Thanks.
