Does anyone know why the number of Temporary Internet Files varies so widely? For weeks there were never more than 50 or 60 in the folder, and sometimes as few as two. Then for no apparent reason it jumps to 500 or 1000, the majority of which are .gif files. The time frame is one session, usually one day. The number of files could go back down, again seemingly for no reason.

Everytime you see something on a web page it stores it in your temporary internet files. The more you surf the internet .. the more files are stored.

Thanks, Frank. But I don't surf any more or less than I ever did, so that doesn't account for the significantly greater number of TIFs (not to be confused with TIFFs).
