I am buing a new system. Does anybody have experience on tv tuner cards? How is the reception and viewing quality vs. Television?
On my earlier PII with win95 quality was so bad I did not use it even once. Are tv tuner cards just useless fancy ideas?

TV Tuners have great reception I have a PIII 500 with 128MB ram and it works fine. It is a WinTV Tuner card I run windows 2000 pro.
No Problems and clear as tv set

If your tuner card, is as clear as your tv set, then you simply have a sh*tty tv set my friend. The resolution achieved on a computer monitor, far exceeds that of a conventional TV set, and even some higher quality sets, and as a result, you will always have a rather fuzzy picture. However, I use an ATI tv wonder card, but their software is crap. I use WinDVR as the frontend to watch TV and also do some recording, and its superb.

I'm using an ATI TV Wonder VE with an ATI Rage Fury Pro video card on a PIII 700 MHz machine. IT is Fantastic!! Great picture...No problem for me with the ATI software. Go for it !!

I have two ATI TV Wonder VE cards and the picture quality is bad even thopugh I,m using a booster. My previous mm100 pctv cards were much better but are not supported in XP

The picture quality does not depend only on the brand of the TC tuner. It also depends on the quality of your computer and of how good your receprion is.
Good Computer + good reception = Excelent quality (at least with my tv wonder ve), better than a usual TV (i didn't compare it with Plasma).
Bad computer + not so good reception = poor quality.
I wouldn't suggest a tv-tuner card for a computer with integraded graphics or anything less than a 16MB video card.

I am using Teppro PCI TV card on Windows XP.
I need drivers to works with XP as there is compatability problem with Broktree chipset.

Do not buy an ATI card-- They do not develop new drivers / video players for many of their products as new operating systems are released [winxp w/ ati all in wonder].
