tcp/ip settings

done a clean install of xp detected all hardware and installed drivers but i cant get my network card to work?on the task bar it says its connected .but i cant do a ipconfig on it i have tried it in my other computer it is fine it has a static ip and i can ping it but when i right click the icon in the task bar and go to status/support it has no ip?and when i say repair the connection windows says it cant query tcp/ip settings tried 2 cards both the same message cards are reltek rtl 8139c

I had the same problem. I deleted the harddisk and unplugged it, then let windows detect it again, and the problem was solved. Hope this will be as easy for you!

you probably mean you deleted the nNIC instead of the harddrive...
what happens when you run ipconfig? its not cofigured correctly, but i'd need more info to tell you whats wrong.

network card is all set up as other computers with individual static ip's tried 2 rtl 8139c cards and 1 rtl 8129 all the same i can ping to and from the card but when i try and view status there is no ip or any settings avalible? and when i click repair it says it cant find tcp/ip config? ipconfig does nothing no details at all?
