two machines almost same problem the network connection fails after an indeterminate amount of time, running winsock fixes both machines on one just rebooting corrects the problem. The tcp /ip connection seems to fail, cannot ping anything (didn;'t bother with self ping as it is kernel only) can not find any info on it been puzzelled for weeks used to think i was a wizz on systems but finally stumped humble pie eaten heartely :) help appriciated

If it is not fixed try this: Go to networks and view network connections. Right click and then select "repair". If it cannot fix the dns then go to control panel-services and restart the dns server.
Finally try the netsh command Go to run-cmd and type "netsh int ip reset ip_reset.txt" or " netsh winsock reset catalog". Then Reboot.
