During usage of my computer, little "boxes" or "applets" appear and disapper quickly on my taskbar. It happens whether I'm on the net or using an application offline. I've checked the Startup and Services in msconfig, and all are required. It started recently, about a month - 2 ago. I'm stumped. I've run Norton (all programs), Spybot (with all new updates). I'm on an SBC DSL network (home). Any Ideas?

Rightclick on your taskbar, in between your system tray (where the applets are and the QuickLaunch bar if you have it enabled.)
there will be a check box "Hide in Active Icons", see if that is enabled, if it is choose Customize and check to make sure you do not have any of these items to "Hide when Inactive." (for Windows XP Home and Pro)
This is only one possibility.
