Double-click on any part of the border of Task Manager to solve your problem.

i don't know why the bar at the top would disappear. i also don't know what 'File?' means, it might mean exactly what i'm going to suggest but oh well.have you tried ending the taskmanager process to close it? in the 'Processes' tab look for 'taskmgr.exe' and hit end process. that'll do a quick and dirty closing. good for a last resort. sorry i couldn't give you a better solution.

Go with response #1. This is a common problem. I don't know why Micro$ made it this way but a double click in the border can make it look like you have it and a double click in the border can bring it back to normal. The task manager in Win2K also does this.
