Most of the time this is a sign of a virus or trojan or malicious spyware that was installed on your computer.

Reboot into safemode and run all your anti-virus and spyware protection in safe mode to rid yourself of any baddies.

AliArif, I agree with lurkswithin's Response Nunber 1. You may want to go to the link below and under the letter "T" scroll down to "Task Manager - Control/Alt/Delete - Doesn't work" where you'll find several possible fixes (e.g.Enable the Task Manager (Line 51)).

yeah you have been hit with spyware. The spyware has gone into your registry and changed the values. Before you adjust your registry, you must remove any spyware you have on your computer. do this in safe mode with some spyware software. once you have done that, do this!

Click Start, Run and type this command exactly as given below: (better - Copy and paste)

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

This should do the trick! If you dont feel like doing it like this, you can also download and run this reg file of the net. just go on this link:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/EnableTM.reg

Hope i helped!
