Am I the only one who prefers the Windows task bar at the top of the screen instead of the bottom as is the default? All other menus appear at the top of their windows. Why not for Windows itself?
Windows lets you drag the task bar to the top, but there are some side effects if you do that:
1) When opening some programs, the task bar covers the top part of that program's window. I have to move the window down to see the whole thing. This is especially annoying since I can't simply click and drag the window because its title bar is obscured! I have to use keyboard shortcuts to do it.
2) When I rest my mouse pointer over an icon, a tool tip is displayed. Problem: The tool tip is displayed OVER the icon (and adjacent icons) instead of on top of the icon as it would be if the task bar were at the bottom of the screen. I would like to either fix that or turn the tool tips off completely.
I can live with problem #1 since I can compensate for that myself (although I don't like it!), but I can't figure out what I can do for problem #2. Thus, I've moved my task bar back to the bottom for now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

right click on start choose properties, then taskbar tab, select auto hide taskbar, or get a bigger monitor :)
