I'm not sure how to explain this...
My h/d's been filling up so I've been transffering a lot of my files to cd-r. After I transferred a bunch of files (cut and paste) I looked up the properties of my root drive (c:) and found I now had LESS space left. I'm pretty sure the increase is the same size as the intended decrease. The files are on cd-r and I can't find them on the h/d. So where is this increase coming from? I did notice that my page.sys file is 1.5g in size. That seems a little hefty. But I'm not sure if it was that big before. Any help?

This

Another thing I notice that is taking up space is
EVENT VIEWER logs. Go into EV then right click
each catagory, then click "Clear all events".

Also check the size of Dr.Watson's Log file at:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\drwtsn32.log
Read about him and the file in Windows HELP.

Norton Protected Recycle Bin maybe? Haven't emptied standard recycle bin? Check in your profile's Temp folder C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\temp. Safe to delete everything there. Windows will tell you if anything is in use.

You could recover a gig of HD space at a stroke - reduce your pagefile to 500Mb. Unless you edit massive audio or video files you certainly don't need 1.5Gb. Task Manager will tell you the maximum virtual (RAM + pagefile) you're using in the Commit Charge Peak figure. If this is always less than the total Physical (RAM) value (and I suspect it's a LOT less) you'll be quite safe reducing the pagefile.

It was the Norton protected recycle bin. It took up about 14gb. What's up with that?
Thanks for the help!
