Specs: Windows XP, Amd Athlon 2200+ with 768

Everytime I start my computing.. it takes more than usual(about 15 seconds, usual is ~2 seconds) to get past my 'Welcome' page. after it finishes, it goes to my desktop - but with no explorer. After I CTRL-ALT-DEL and end the process sysu.exe, explorer loads.. and so does my start menu and other startup programs.

So, at the point before I end sysu.exe, I have only these three processes showing up(excluding task manager):
explorer.exe
sysu.exe
wbload.exe (Windows Blinds)

This problem did not start afer my installation of windows blinds... in fact I forget now when it started, im used to ending sysu.exe every time I start up.

What is sysu.exe, if a virus, how can i remove it.. how can I fix this?

Hi iLLuSiON141,

That sysu.exe seems trouble, read this link:
sysu.exe

I'll check which program is best to handle it, but here are a few good ones to start (free)
Keep in mind that some of them need to be updated over the web when first started, and before zapping the baddies!
AVG anti-virus
Spybot Search & Destroy
Lavasoft Adaware
BHO Demon

wbload.exe isn't a real problem, but read my suggestion about StyleXP in the following link:

Also post your problem on the Security & Virus forum, so the experts can have a look, even if your computer seems cleaned by the programs I've linked.

The neverending desktop ruined my entire weekend! I finally figured it out, however, and with the help of the Symantec website I got rid of the problem (for the time being, at least).

Take a look at the instructions at:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.dynamicupdater.html

If you delete the entry from the Registry, the desktop seems to load just fine.

Help! I have the same problem. Can't see taskbar (start button) or icons (my computer). How do I get into the registry and remove the suggested keys.
