Well, my laptop was fine until today. Received the error message: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupted: System\DRIVERS\pci.sys. You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD=Rom. Select 'r' at the first screen to strat repair."
One big problem, I don't have the original Setup disc. I'm not sure what actually happened since I was doing a defrag and walked away while it was doing that and came back and noticed that it was locked up. Alt+Ctrl+Del didn't work so I unplugged it. Reied re-booting and that's when I got the error message. I hit F2 to get into the System BIOS but couldn't find anywhere to repair or recover the disc. Any help? Thanks

Did you try safe mode or last known good configuration from the advanced startup menu?

Can't seen to find safe mode in the BIOS setup utility. I've been able to find it when there were other issues but not this time.

I doubt that..........LOL

The safe mode option is not located in the BIOS.

LOL well, it's come up and you're right, it's not in the BIOS but the safe mode won't even come up ... I've tried several of the F keys and all the laptop does is re-boot ... frustration has set in
