Start XP in safe mode and copy the file to the correct folder/directory (..\system32\drivers) and that should clear the message up.

I have the same problem. I downloaded a windows XP setup floppy. I've also managed to get hold of pci.sys. the floppy lets me access a DOS repair mode, but when i try to copy pci.sys to the right folder, it doesn't work. What should I do? What command should i use?
p.s. Nothing works, not even safe mode.

I think i have found the solution. Download a program from microsoft to make setup boot disks (6 floppys) and run repair.
download a fix from microsoft, extract only pci.sys and put it on a floppy. Using the command copy in repair, copy this new pci.sys to the right folder on your computer, and the problem is solved!
To find the necessary windows programs search on google.
ps: to find out how to use the copy command just type help copy.
