"Can't boot to bios or windows at start up" In other words it will not start period. Then i would suspect either psu (most likely) or motherboard. If you can swap PSU out and see what happens; still the same bye bye mobo . If it was the HDD, then it would boot to bios

Hey First thing would be to check the power supply. With a volt meter set to DC. You should have 12 volts going to motors(HD,Fans,Floppy,CDROM). 5 Volts going to the Motherboard. 9 volts if you have a P4. If the power supply is OK, you should get a blue screen with just the video card connected if the motherboard is OK. It is not the HD. It would still light up. If you Email me I can send you a program to check your system, but it will have to be able to boot from a floppy for it to work. Can you boot with a 9X boot disk?

Hi ZZ
Sugest you check your ram modules also.
Make sure they are seated correctly, and if you can try the stick in another machine just to confirm it is ok.

Before you blame the mobo, .... were you over clocking? and what kind of mobo is it? if this is the case there are many options. Alot of boards we get, just needed to be set to boot in at safe mode. So let me know.

The problem here is a little unclear,Is it a no video issue or no power. If it is no video, could be monitor or video card or memory if the video in integrated.

Did you touch the processor chip?
If you were rough on the processor when reinstalling the heatsink, you probably damaged the processor chip by cracking or chipping the core.
