Reply: (edit)Nothing to worry I think it has something to do with system restore(not sure). I'm guessing you have system restore disabled-that could be a reason why it is empty.

Reply: (edit)Bhav is right. It does have to do with System Restore. It's where your files are backed up to. If System Restore is disabled it will be empty. Sandman

Reply: (edit)You can enable/disable System Restore for any drive via the My Computer properties. Once disabled for a drive that folder can be removed. The file that creates the SVI folder is sr.sys in both System32\dllcache [backup] and ..\Drivers. System File Checker will give you a hard time about it if you remove the file but that will permanently remove the SVI, as long as it has been turned off for all drives. System Restore backs up your Registry and other important system files from a restore point and can restore them, hence the name. Very handy if one messes around with their Registry alot like I do. You may only really need System Restore for your system drive but that is debatable I suppose. I turned it off all other drives. There is a program that can remove System Restore from ME but not it it works for XP.

Reply: (edit)If you have Zone Alarm then System Restore does not make automatic restore points, so your folder may be empty anyway if you have not made any manual restore points. This is the only disadvantage of ZA. Nigel
