While running my virus protector, I keep getting a trojan horse listed in this file but when I go to search for the file, it says there are no files located so how do I find this? If I find this file, is it okay to remove it altogether without causing damage to my system? If so, I'll just format my machine and reload everything but I am trying to avoid having to do that.

The file is listed as C:\system volume information\_restore{6878E952-D0C8-4B2-9...A0002256.dll

bravefreak, To get rid of that file you'll have to turn off System Restore, reboot your computer then turn on System Restore again.

By turning off SR I hope you understand that you will lose all system restore points.

Or you can boot up with Bart PE and delete the System Volume Information folder in its entirety. XP will recreate it next time it boots but again, you will lose any restore points.

This is an MS link for Access to the System Volume Information Folder.

Try running AV Scan in safemode.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
