Noticed a system folder on my EHD and as as every once in awhile I find system restore seemingly turning itself on for EHD's (even though I've repeatedly turned it off for EHD's), I suspected that sys vol folder was related to one of those system restore scenrios.
Anyway, I used file unlocker to place it on my desktop, not too sure the file was caused by systemn restore or not, and so if not, likely deleting might cause some issues.
Then I clicked that file to open it as hovering on it indicated 2 file and two folders were in that system volume file and they were named something like 'Recycle Bin C:' and 'Recycle Bin D:', but when I double click it, the darned thing disappeared and my desktop recycle bin icon focused itself and then unfocused itself.
By that I mean, it appeared as if I'd clicked on it and focused the carrot on it, if those are the right words.
Anyway, the darned folder disappeared for good. Never saw anything like it.
First I thought I might have somehow deleted my desktop's system volume folder for that recycle bin, but the thing still works.
Weird.

Oops. How embarrasing. Not only did I realize it wasn't the system volume folder I was dealing with (it was actually the EHD's recyle bin file's hidden file), but I also just noticed that file unlocker was still open (buried it's popup window under things open on the desktop) and the second I closed the popup window for file unlocker, the desktop's hidden file for the recycle bin re-appeared.
To add to the confusion, intially when this thing happened, when I looked for the EHD in the window for My Computer, it didn't list, so I turned the EHD's power off and back on, and it re-listed.
Not too sure that the re-listing resulted from it being plugged into a troublesome USB jack I have, or if it was due to the EHD's recycle bin's hidden folder having been removed from the EHD.
Anyway, all's well despite myself.
I guess I can only offer up that I find the machine's a whole lot goofier than I ever inadvertantly get.
Incidentally, I decided to tick the recyle bin's hidden file's properties option to "confidure drives independently" hoping that maybe that will resolve why it is that frequently when I click safely remove hardware, it tells me a program is accessing it and it won't 'safely remove'.
