My computer I built began this same problem of shutting down, sometimes several times on just booting up. It is an AMD 3000+/400 CPU, a NAP2Lite Motherboard with 400Mhz FSB, and 1 Gig of Ultra PC3200/400Mhz Ram. At first I suspected it was a problem with the Ultra UPS 1000va (600watt) because I had to reset the UPS by turning it off, then back on, in order to get the CPU on/off switch to work. Last night, I unplugged the CPU from the UPS and direct into the wall. Then tonight the same problem happened again, the CPU just shuts down suddenly. Everything in the computer was bought new. It ran fine form about 8 months, then the problem began. You just never know when it is going to shut down. ICQ and YIM keep going off and then signs back on again, is the only other quirk I have noticed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
