I recently used AVG 8.0 to remove a virus, Spybot to remove spyware, and CCleaner to clean registry and remove unnecessary files. Since then, I cannot view certain videos on MSN. I ran the same programs on my laptop, and now the laptop has the same problem. They'll both play Youtube vids, but neither will finish buffering MSN vids, specifically MSN>Money vids. Oddly enough, they play the beginning commercials of the vids with no problem at all lol. I uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe Flash Player, reset all IE7 settings to default, and checked with another PC that it wasn't MSN's actual videos that were the problem. If I do a system restore to the day before I cleaned the PC's, will it restore the spyware/virus as well? The virus was just a "generic.trojan" deal in AVG.

Sorry! It will restore the Registry and any changes that the virus made.
If AVG removed any virus files, they will not be restored. So the virus may or may not be functional anymore.

I think I would do the restore and just have AVG remove the virus and see what happens.

But AVG deleting files might have caused your problem, so a restore might not fix it.

A System Restore only restores a few system files, not any of the files that have been deleted.

"If you suspect that previous restore points contain copies of infected monitored files that your antivirus program was not able to clean, you can remove these files and all the related restore points from the System Restore archive. To do so, turn off System Restore, and then turn it on again."

"When you turn off System Restore, you remove all the restore points. When you turn on System Restore again, new restore points are created as the schedule and events require."

How antivirus software and System Restore work together

"And that's the fishing line, because Sharkboy said so!"
