When trying to access System restore I get a pop-up. " run a DLL as a APP has encountered a problem and needs to close"

APP Name: RunDLL32.exe
Mod Name: SRRSTR.DLL

Any Ideas how to access system restore?

Try start->run tyoe cmd, then:
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

if this doesn't work theres something wrong with your registry, i found some registry files on the net but i can't possibly remember the site, so google for the dll files..

You can always repair install windows, leaving your files where they were (don't trust me though, burn the important stuff on a cd-rw) just remember that only repair install keeps your stuff on C not complete re-install (complete is always better but who wants to do that?)

I repaired the problem with the follwoing steps

1. Click Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services.
2. Right-click System Restore Service and click Properties.
3. From the Startup Type drop-down, select Disabled.
4. Click OK.
5. Close the Services and Administrative Tools windows.
6. Right-click My Computer, click Properties, and click the System Restore tab. The System Restore tab should now display properly; however, the System Restore service will be disabled.
7. Enable System Restore and click Apply.
