System Restore not available

Comment:
Recently purchased a registry package and removed a number of errors. Dont know whether there is a coincidence but System Restore is no longer available. When accessed through System tools the restore screens opens with an error "System Restore is not able to prtect your computer. Please restart and run again". Same thing happens. There is no System Restore tab through the System/My Computer properties to see if it is switched off. Any ideas

Most reg cleaners have an undo function. Run it to check if it caused it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Followed instructions but this has not solved it. I could use my XP disc to repair but its time consuming reloading all updates. Is there a quicker solution?

Try Run-SFC /SCANNOW-enter. You will need the xp cd. It should repair/replace any missing/corrupt system files.

Thanks I,ve had a look in kellys corner. Could not find anything but further searches lead me to other information on kellys corner. I carried out the following: . Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click "Performance and Maintenance". 2. Click Administrative Tools, click Computer Management, and then click Services and Applications. 3. Click Services, and then click System Restore Services. This indicated that the system restore had stopped. On pressing start I received an error message Error 3 Could not fimd the path specified. Does this mean I have no choice but to reboot repair from the CD?
