I had an rbot virus,got rid of it but PC still wasn't quite right,decided to use system restore,chose a date to restore to(3 days ago)Pc done its thing,rebooted but when the screen came up that should say your system has been restored,or words to that effect it said windows wasn't shutdown properly,last restore should be undone?mmm i said to my self.So i immediately tried to go to start-programs-accesories-system tools system restore but the icon that was usually beside system restore was gone?Just the icon was beside it that is shown if say a file doesn't have a specified program to open it,you know the one.What do i do now?I cant do this system restore undo,when i press the icon beside system restore nothing happens?Any help appreciated:-)

Hi, Try following click on start->run type restore and click ok doubleclick on rstrui.exe this should launch system restore if it does not, try this: go to my computer tools->folder options Under view tab click on "show hidden files and folders" click ok then go to c:\windows\inf search for sr.inf there if you find it, right click and click on install and then insert the xp cd if it asks for. You should get the system restore back. Best of luck
