System Recovery Message

I recently installed Registry Mechanic and soon thereafter tried to do a full System Recovery. The following message appeared:

STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\config\SECURITY
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

I don't have recovery CD's.

Can anyone help please?

No. The only cd I have is the Microsoft Works Suite 2003 cd.

All my stuff came pre-installed with the computer.
