My XP came preloaded on my computer and i believe i dont have a system recovery cd or cant find it. I want to know if i can do a system recovery and will i lose my personal files on the harddrive? i have trojans that i cant delete otherwise so i was advised to do a system recovery can anyone help?

without the system recovery disc it will be next to impossible unless there is a recovery partition set up on your hdd. To use any recovery disc per say will more than likely cause you to lose everything as it resets your system back to what it was as brand new. You should backup anything that you wish to keep. Another option would be to try to use the built in "system restore" to restore your pc back to an earlier time frame. You should not lose any personal files with that as it (supposedly) only restores system files. R. click on the "my computer" icon and select "properties"..then click on "system restore" tab and select to restore back to an earlier time. You should try to contact Dell and see about getting a replacement restore disc for your PC. If they don't have them for yours then get directions from tech support on how to restore your computer.
