Hi,

My computer just stoped working.

I find that the hard drive and cd rom don't initate un less they are unpluged from the motherboard.

By this I mean, when the hard drive is pluged into the Motherboard (IDE-1) the hard drive will not start. As soon as I unplug the IDE cable from the hard drive you can here it start up (the winding and clicking noise).

Also the cd rom when it is hooked to the motherboard the cd rom does not come on. As soon as I unplug from the IDE-2 the cd rom light comes on and I can open the cd tray.

Please, any ideas would be a great help.

Thanks
Randy.

Your IDE controller on your mobo must be bad. It might be the IDE drivers, but with no hard-drive or CD, you're not going to get it to work. It also might be your Power Supply. If you have a spare, try it, but don't go through the trouble of buying another one to try on this mobo. I'd start looking for a new mobo. Sorry :(
