So, this is a fairly new Acer TravelMate, right out of the box, and naturally I disabeled/deleted all the junk that came with it. I have limited processes starting, just enough to run the tablet portion and the fundamentals of the computer. With some frequency the system will just freeze, almost but not quite completely, but to the point where a restore is required. I have opened task manger and the culperate is the System Process, it will take up 100% of the CPU. Now I have just 5 minutes ago turned off the indexing service, as it could be a problem, but I have defragged, i've used the XP SP2 hotfix, and thought about everything I can. Anyone else have any ideas?

I wish it were that easy, I have looked at those links and most people's are associated with a trojan or something like that. This is right out of the box, brand new, not one but two computers.

When you say Systemm are you talking about the left hand column or the 2nd column?

the image name is System the process id is 4 the user name is SYSTEm the n it goes to CPU 100 CPU time 0:00:00 mem usage 236K pF Delta 0 and on and on. This is literally the System Process.

If you hold down the 'Alt' key with the Print Screen key, you will capture only the window that is on your screen, not the whole desk top. This sends it to Clipboard, now you can Paste it into Paint ( go to Edit ) or any other Windows based graphics program. Save as... Save as type, select JPEG etc.

Oh how i'd love to, but the system will not respond. I tried, I waited 20 minutes after pulling up taskmanager, then getting it to show system was using 100% cpu.. then tried to open paint and past, however it just wouldnt not work. I don't know how else to explain this to you. the system process, the process for the system its self, not system idle process, just System, look atyour own and see it, is using 100%.
