System Idle Process showing in CPU usage

August 22, 2011 at 11:18:06
Specs: Windows 7
For some reason the system idle process is showing up in the CPU usage graph in task manager on Windows XP. Which means it always looks to be running at near maximum. So far the only way for me to fix it is to try restarting. Is there any other way?

It is normal and good for the "System Idle Process" to show high CPU usage. This isn't a real process but more like a placeholder that shows the percentage of unused CPU time.

Doing a lot of nothing is good.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
