system freezes

i had enough of locking up in win2000 on my comp so i did a reformat and clean install of win xp home. Its still locking up. I had errors showing in my log and took care of all of them . there are no errors showing, but i keep freezing and have to shut down and restart. it may be an hour or several hours and it freezes again. Any ideas ? these are the processes running.

It's could be an cpu overheat problem, if your comfortable opening your PC case make sure the CPU heatsink is not covered in dust and your fans are working correctly.

The other possibility is your RAM is/has become defective.

Forgot there are some freebie programs to use that will check your RAM for you.

memtest is one if you do a search for it you should find it without a problem.

I agree with the over heating issue. Take the lid or side off your computer then if it doesn't lock up you know it's a thermal issue. And if I may recommend go to housecall.trendmicro.com
You could have a virus.....you never know

thanks for all your help. Your right the fan was dirty. But i also discovered that the new memory card that my brother inlaw put in a few months back was incompatible with my computer. After removing it the freezes stopped. Thanks again.
