system file missing or corrupt

CPU/Ram: 512

Does anyone know what the cause of this problem is? It happens when I start my computer every 2-3 months.

Error : C:\windows\system32\config\system file is either missing or corrupt.

I know how to fix it, but i'd like to try and get to the root of the problem to stop it happening.
