Comment:

I accidently unplugged my laptop while it was on and whne I tried to put it back on it said:

c:\windows\system32\system was corrupt.

It suggested me to repair it with the original SETUP CDROM and when I boot with it I end up in the command prompt DOS screen.

What should I do from here on?

Ignore the first Repair option and press Enter to install XP. The installation will identify the current installation and you will get the option to re-install or repair the current installation. Select Repair.

This will do a repair install, keeping all you settings. You may have to re-install any updates and hot fixes that have been installed recently.

you can also try run System File Checker.

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow

To run System File checker you first have to boot into Windows. In this case, that is not happening.
