My system does spontaneous restarts. Event viewer pasted below. Since the system last ran well, there have been no hardware changes. Did a system restore to get around a Zone Alarm True Vector error. Uninstalled Zone Alarm Pro and have not reinstalled due to the spontaneous restarts. Do not know if the ZA True Vector error is related to the system restarts. Windows error reporting is also corrupted. Sounds more like a hardware issue related to ram. I would suggest running a ram tester to confirm your memory is not the issue. after that a system restore to a date previous to the problems would be advised. if that doesn't solve the issue it would be a repair install of xp. A little delayed, had to forage for food and earn a living, but I am following your advice. I burned the Microsoft memory test to CD and ran the test. The RAM passed all the test, so I guess going back one more restore point and/or a repair install is next. Too bad - this PC had a clean install of XP earlier this year and had been running better than new until last week.
