You either have:

1: No operating system installed, or
2: No hard drive installed, or
3: A dead hard drive, or
4: A floppy disk in the floppy drive, or
5: Any combination of the above.

I'm just wondering how one can have no HDD, but still have an OS installed. Flash RAM?

Now you need to get and install an OS. You didn't bother to say what the CPU is, but if PIII or better, I recommend win2000.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

Refer to "5: Any combination of the above."

In hindsight, I should have said "and/or".

Yup, Sci-Guy's response pretty much said it all for this problem. :-)

Where in the OP's post say that he did not have a harddrive in his computer?

soupnasty,

You really should read the thread in its entirety.

I never suggested that the OP said he didn't have a hard drive (nor did anyone else suggest this).

I simply pointed out one possibility as to the cause of the problem.

You wrongfully attributed a sentence to me (with your quotation).

Again, read the thread properly.
