After recently disabling my onboard sound and adding a PCI soundcard, my computer would not boot into Windows. I removed the card but the problem remains.
It hangs at a black screen just after POST no matter if I choose a boot option or I let it run through automatically. If I try to boot from CD, it hangs on "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration".
My computer was running perfectly until I added the card and this is the first problem I've had. There were no problems installing windows or any other hardware or software.
Mobo: ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
CPU: P4C 3Ghz
Ram: Corsair XMS4000
Sound Card: Creative Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro.Thanks to anyone who can help. Please tell me if I've been too vague.

Try this: Look in the Bios for an option that says "Reset Configuration Data". Select it and exit.
After the boot, the option will be re-enabled.

I've tried that with no luck, but I did notice that my Secondary Master wasn't being detected and that on inspection the molex (power plug) had been pulled from the back of it.
I sorted that, re-booted, the drive this time was detected and still no luck.
All my drives are coming up in the bios, but is it possible that some other cable has been unplugged and this is causing the problem? If so then I'll have a look and check all the connections.
Is there anything else that may be causing the problem? Cheers.

OK, I booted from a floppy with the debug version of ntdetect.com and it froze-up shortly after it said "Detecting floppy" and had a couple of hex codes on the lines below.
Read help on the net and apparently last hardware to be displayed is where the problem lies. Have tried replacing both floppy cable and drive, individually AND have tried disabling the floppy controller in the bios with no luck.
Can anybody help me out here? Thanks.
