1, open your laptop and see whether there has a bypass BIOS password switch or not.

or
2, remove your laptop's battery for about 1-2 days and don't power on it. this will reset the BIOS to factory default

Download a patch that will Flash ur BIOS. Get the name and number that are assiocated with your BIOS and then type in "Flash BIOS patch for (your Bios)" in google.com Boot to a DOS prompt and then run that ptach. It is the only way I can think of how to do it. On a PC you can open the computer, take a jumper off a pin and then put it back on and that will clear the password and all settings but you have a laptop. Once you run that Flash BIOS patch, set all your BIOS settings again, right that password down on a piece of paper and then store that piece of paper in a safe place. Hope that helps.

Nicco...do as LZ says. You don't need to boot to DOS to follow his advice.

Just to add a little extra to LZ's comments.

Some Laptop's have a small battery backup, just like Desktop PC's have, so removing the Main Battery will not have any effect for a few year in some cases. My Compaq still had the correct time after 29 Months of lying unused in a cupboard!

The user guide does not have any reference to one being present in the Solo 2500, but look around for a small screw and cover that just isn't related to a Power Battery, CD-ROM or other hardware. If so, undo it and look around.

By the way did you try using F2 to get into BIOS and see if you could turn off the password protection.

On the downside, some years ago, a mate of mine was charged >$1000 for a new motherboard for the XXX Laptop because he forgot the 'BIOS Password': a bummer.
