System Backup and Restore

I just installed a new hard drive. I had backed up my old one with the Windows XP software. After I restored it, I get an error message saying.. file not accessible, access denied. I can't delete it either, and when I try system restore, it doesn't delete them either. How do I get rid of it, I don't care about the backup anymore, I just want to get rid of the files since they take up lots of space on my hard drive.

Are you saying you have Xp on the new HD and want to remove files from the old one. If so, right click my computer/manage/disk management, and you can format the old hard drive there.

That's illegal in the first place. You left XP on the computer you sold, then you're going to use a copy of that same XP on your new computer?? No.

Hi,
If the XP file system is FAT32, not NTFS, you should be able to use a Windows 98 type startup floppy and access the drive to directly delete the files/folders you no longer need without XP butting in.
Good Luck
P.S. I really feel this is good data but have not been there or done it myself.

Actually I reformatted it before I sold it so I didn't sell this person my copy of Windows XP. As for the FAT32/NTFS, its NTFS, and I already tried to delete them from DOS. Still no good, access denied.
