Windows XP Pro (32 Bit)
AMD64 4000+ Dual Core / Nvidia Board
2 Gigs Ram

Any help greatly appreciated!

It started with the "cannot start windows because PCI.sys is missing or corrupted" problem. I used the XP install CD to restore (expand) pci.sys. Upon reboot, it had a problem with another .sys file, which I restored as well. That one cleared, and it's now looking for nvata.sys, which is not on the XP install CD. (Maybe it's associated with the board?)

I tried Automated System Recovery (ASR), but it wants a floppy, and i have no floppy drive. I did a disk check (full) on the HDD with Western Digital software; no errors.

Before the failure, I had just run Windows Update, and installed Blackberry Desktop software.

Any idea what to do next, other than reformat and hope for the best? (I have my files backed up :) ) I'd even consider swapping files through a Linux boot CD if that would help. Anything that's less than the 4 hours it'll take to reformat and restore...

Thanks!!

That file looks to be part of the MBoard chipset drivers. The file will install to X:\Windows\system32\drivers. Probably need to re-install the chipset drivers. Get them from the MBoard manufacturer's site or if you have a CD for the board.
