Try a System Restore.

i tried using the restore cd's but it will not read them. you cannot access the windows because everything on the desktop is all garbled. It tried opening a folder ( i knew the icon) and it would not open. Is this a virus or system failure?

"i tried using the restore cd's but it will not read them."

Enter the bios setup program and make sure the CD drive is first in the boot sequence.

@ gagirl

aegis 1 says Try a System Restore.
That is Windows System Restore, not Restore CDs.

What is System Restore?

Try System Restore to a date when all was good.
Start >All Programs >Accessories >System Tools

Using System Restore too many times can cause
more harm than good. After doing a restore
that does not fix a problem, then UNDO the
Restoration, and try another restore point, or
just do the UNDO.
