I keep getting a box pop up on my screen that says sychost.exe-application error every couple minutes. Please help me remove it.

Hi Arlene,

Has this started happening recently/suddenly? Do you have
Automatic Updates switched on? Had you recently run Windows
Update before the problem began? Lastly, have you run your fully
up-to-date anti-malware apps?

If it does say > screen that says sychost.exe-application you are probably infected.

svchost is the correct spelling.

Note: The svchost.exe file is located in the c:\windows\System32 folder. In other cases, svchost.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!

go to start/find type in the file name as it say's on the pop up if it finds it and it is not in sys 32 then try right click and delete if not sure create a restore point before try and see if it stops the pop up

I opened my Windows Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Delete) and counted 8 instances of svchost.exe listed as runninng . Is this common for WindowsXP Pro SP2 MCE2005 ? My PC seems to run just fine with no error's or any other problems ? I appreciate all input from others reguarding svchost.exe. and rerpeat3 I apoliogize I was'nt trying to hyjack your post/topic .

In Windows Task Manager-Processes, right click on svchost.exe and then click on Go to Service.
