sxs.dll error on XP Pro Installation

I'm installing XP pro & getting this sxs.dll error or something to do w/ the controls.man file. I heard there's a way can fix this problem & I do appreciate if somebody ca help me....

It seems that there was some kind of corruption on the hard drive - on attempting to install XP from Windows 98 I started to get a number of stop errors and fdisk wouldn't recognise the disk.

The guy at dell ran through something called debug (accessed through a Win98 Startup disk which solved the problem, and its been an easy ride since!

this could also indicate bad cd or illegal burned cd
or the cdrom or hard drive going too fast for the processor/mobo and needing to be set to lower transfer rate to install succesfully

Interestingly enough, I rebooted once more, just for fun
(without the cd in the drive), and the insall contiued to a
successfull finish...Very bizarre. My GUESS (and from what
I gather from newspots) is that I had a poorly burned cdrom
ala nero.
I need to lay off warez.
